Six gold medals for six different wines and spirits. This is the new goal achieved by the Tessari family’s Ca’ Rugate at the 32nd edition of the World Competition des Vins Extrêmes (Organisation Internationale de la Vigne et du Vin) and dedicated to wines produced in areas characterised by heroic viticulture. Ca’ Rugate is an estate with 90 hectares under organic production. It averages 750.000 bottles per year, half of which are sold abroad, in forty countries. The wines range from Soave to Lessini Durello to Valpolicella.
Cà Rugate is the only Italian winery to receive a ‘transversal’ award with six gold medals, which also refer to different appellations. Competing were around one thousand wines from twenty-five countries, including Armenia, Chile, China, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Israel, Lebanon and Turkey.
The Tessari family winery based in Montecchia di Crosara (province of Verona) won two gold medals for Recioto di Soave Docg La Perlara 2020 and Recioto della Valpolicella Docg L’Eremita 2020. Three gold medals were awarded to Amarone della Valpolicella Docg Punta 470 2020, Lessini Durello Doc Riserva Amedeo 2018 and Igt Veneto Bianco Passito Corte Durlo 2010. Among spirits, the Vermouth di Amarone della Valpolicella won gold, among the only three winners for Italy.
