The 26th edition of the Fiera della Polenta in Vigasio began on Thursday, October 17, and will run until November 10. This famous yearly festival features a variety of gastronomic delicacies, musical performances, and entertainment. With five huge tents put up in the heart of Vigasio, the fair can accommodate over 4,000 guests every evening, with 12 kitchens preparing 130 different meals. Approximately ten local associations are actively involved, making the event a true community celebration.

Polenta Takes Center Stage

Polenta, long known as “yellow gold” for its role as a simple farmer’s cuisine, is the fair’s protagonist. Visitors can sample the finest local polenta, which is created from non-hybrid, native types and is of the greatest quality. The fair features over 100 distinct polenta pairings, allowing visitors to enjoy this traditional staple in different ways.

New Polenta Fair App for Easy Ordering

This year, the fair introduces a brand-new app, making it easier than ever to order your favorite dishes. The app allows users to browse the full menu and select their preferred plates directly from their smartphones. Once the app is downloaded from the official website, the App Store, or Google Play, users can place their orders and pay by simply showing a QR code at the dedicated checkout points or using the special kiosks to pay.

Dozens of Events

The fair serves more than food. A fun-filled amusement park will keep children entertained during the event, and a daily market will open at 6:30 p.m. in Via Alzeri. The musical “Galline in Broadway,” written by Francesco Antimiani, will be performed at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 19. The Vigasio school of theatre will present Giuseppe Della Misericordia’s comedy “Il matrimonio…era ieri,” translated and directed by Giorgia Vecchini, on Sunday, October 20 at 6:00 PM.
