Verona will host the International Cat Show, welcoming cat lovers to admire some of the world’s most beautiful felines on Saturday, October 26, and Sunday, October 27, at the Gran Guardia. This 46th edition will feature a wide array of stunning breeds, from the majestic Maine Coons to the charming British and Scottish breeds, alongside Sphynx, Persians, Exotic Shorthairs, Devon Rex, Highland, Ragdoll, and Russian Blue cats. For the first time, Abyssinians, a rare breed originating from Ethiopia, will also be showcased.

Visitors will discover which breeds are best suited for pet therapy and which are hypoallergenic. They will also gain insights into feline communication, learning to interpret whisker positions, ear movements, and eye shape and pupil size changes. Experts will be on hand to demonstrate how these beloved animals are groomed and cared for, and attendees will get a glimpse into the feline world, including grooming tips and cats’ particular habits and quirks. Veterinary and nutritional experts will also be available to answer questions about health and care.

After last year’s success, the protected petting area returns, offering attendees a chance to spend time with the cats in a secure environment. Both children and adults can enter the “box” to pet the cats, with timed, controlled sessions to ensure a relaxed experience for the animals and visitors alike.

The event will also feature a prestigious cat competition judged by an international panel, including Chiara De Luca, Brigitta Redford (Germany), Gianfranco Mantovani, and Martti Peltonen (Sweden). They will evaluate the cats based on beauty, posture, and color, across categories including kittens, adults, and neutered or intact cats, to crown the show’s overall winner. Spectators will also get involved, cheering for their favorite cats during the afternoon show held in the Gran Guardia auditorium.

For those unable to attend in person, the event will be active on social media with a domestic cat photo contest, offering free entry to the show as a prize. Children bringing a cat-themed drawing to the event will also receive special prizes and goodies.
