In Verona, the city centre is preparing for a significant transformation. As of 28 October, the Restricted Traffic Zone “ZTL” will be armoured for all 24 hours, eliminating the current windows of free access.
The Municipality of Verona has published a detailed vademecum to guide citizens and visitors through the new rules. Residents with a ZTL pass, as well as those with a disabled or work pass, will see no significant change in their access. For those who live in the municipality of Verona or the province and do not have a pass, access will be limited to four times a month, subject to booking via the Citypass platform or the Tap&Park app.
For those who travel by moped, there will be no changes, while owners of electric cars will be able to continue to access by registering on the municipal website. In case of emergencies, it will be possible to enter by communicating data within 24 hours on the local police portal.
One of the most frequently asked questions concerns parking. Residents with a pass will also be able to park in the spaces previously reserved for temporary parking, regardless of colour or time, as long as they remain in their area of residence. In addition, thanks to an agreement with the Saba car parks, it will be possible to take advantage of subsidised rates: the lunch pass allows three hours of parking at the price of 5 euro from 12 noon to 3 p.m., while the dinner pass offers six hours of parking, again at 5 euro, from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.
For residents, several areas have been identified where free parking will be possible. In the ZTL zone, the main points (watch the map up here) include Lungadige Rubele, Stradone San Fermo, and Corso Castelvecchio. In the San Zeno area, you will be able to park in Corso Porta Nuova and Piazza Renato Simoni, among others. The Veronetta and Cittadella areas also offer various options, such as Via XX Settembre and Via Adigetto.
The transformation of Verona’s historic centre does not stop at the ZTL. New pedestrian areas will be established, including Piazza Erbe, Via Pellicciai and Corso Porta Borsari. Only authorised vehicles will be allowed access, creating safer and more liveable spaces for pedestrians and cyclists.
