The countdown has started for the long-awaited Festa del Marrone di San Zeno (Chestnut Festival in San Zeno di Montagna, province of Verona), now in its 21st edition, and for the Exhibition Market. The event will start on this Saturday and Sunday and continue on 26 and 27 October, then on Thursday 31 October until Sunday 3 November, with a rich programme of events and delicious dishes to taste.

The pavilion that welcome guests will be set up in Piazza Schena, one of the main novelties of the 2024 edition, and will protect against rain in the event of bad weather. The Monte Baldo chestnut “marrone” will be the undisputed star of the festival and will be proposed in many dishes, the very traditional chestnut soup or combined with Radicchio di Verona and other products from the Veneto region. There will also be tastings of chestnut beer, Castanea, made from roasted chestnuts.

It will also be possible to buy freshly harvested chestnuts, ready to cook at home. There will be cooking shows with culinary experts who will try their hand at preparing dishes based on Baldo’s typical symbol product. One of the most eagerly awaited moments on Thursday 24 October will be the Marron d’Oro (a kind of “Golden Chestnut”), the competition that awards prizes for the best chestnuts proposed by the producers belonging to the Consortium.

The complete programme is available on the social networks, Facebook and Instagram, of the Consortium of Marrone di San Zeno DOP and on the website: www.marronedisanzeno.it
