Verona is set to be abuzz with activity from June 3rd to June 9th as it hosts èVRgreen Week, a dedicated celebration of sustainability with a diverse range of events spread across the city. Promoted by the University of Verona, the Municipality of Verona, and the University of Padova, with support from Agsm Aim, this initiative promises a rich program of activities.
Throughout the week, attendees can participate in round tables, lectures, discussions, and aperitifs with experts, delving into intriguing and timely topics. Practical activities such as workshops and labs will engage both children and adults in various experiences, from personal wellness to recycling. The cultural program will feature theater performances, music, exhibitions, and installations, alongside a variety of athletic activities including walks, treks, yoga sessions, and ecological neighborhood parties.
Verona will serve as the vibrant backdrop for the èVRgreen Week, with events spanning from Veronetta to Montorio, from the historic center to the Golosine neighborhood. Public parks, theaters, university campuses, squares, and streets will all play host, highlighting Verona’s central role in urban development and offering residents the chance to fully engage with their surroundings, fostering a more informed and active community.
The initiative is born out of the larger èVRgreen project, which aims to evaluate and enhance the city’s green infrastructure and ecosystem services. Over a three-year period, starting with a comprehensive scientific assessment of current conditions, the project will propose strategies and actions to combat climate change.
The festivities kick off on Saturday, June 1st, at 6 p.m. in Bastione delle Maddalene Park with the opening of the exhibition “Voices from the Oases.” This itinerant artistic installation, sponsored by 3Bee, a nature tech company specializing in biodiversity monitoring and regeneration, features 20 panels showcasing large-scale images of pollinating insects, essential guardians of biodiversity whose future is uncertain.
