The new tourist tax regulations of the Municipality of Verona aim to encourage visitors to stay longer in our city. From 1 July, the maximum number of overnight stays subject to tourist tax will be reduced from 5 to 4 days. The 4-day limit will also apply to uninterrupted stays of up to 30 days between two consecutive months and to stays in two or more establishments.
But how much will the tourist tax be in Verona? For hotels and hotels – campsites and tourist villages – agriturismo and farm holiday centres, the new rate will vary between 1.50 and 5 euros. For tourist accommodation, bed and breakfasts, furnished tourist accommodation and holiday homes, the rates will be between 2 and 5 euros. For tourist rentals, the rate will be 3.50 euros. Reductions of 20 per cent will apply to guests over 70 years of age, young people between 15 and 25 years of age and members of groups of more than 25 people.
Among the new features introduced by the amendments to the regulations is the introduction of the municipal computer system for the administration of the tourist tax (TouristTax), in which accommodation establishments must be registered. Once the data has been validated by the Tourist Tax Office, the accommodation establishments will have access to the Public Digital Identity System (SPID) to fulfil the required obligations.
