The Department of Management and the Veneto Region signed an agreement to establish a departmental center for circular economy research and innovation. Objective: boost the competitiveness of the Veneto business system by promoting research and dissemination among companies and local governments.
The presentation took place this morning, September 20, at the Santa Marta Pole, in the presence of Magnifico Rettore Pier Francesco Nocini, Veneto Region Councillor for Education, Training, Labor, and Equal Opportunities Elena Donazzan, and Diego Begalli, Director of the University of Verona Management Department.
Circular economy to make Veneto companies increasingly competitive
The Veneto Region has provided 200,000 euros to the University of Verona to establish a new research center focusing on the circular economy, or, as the European Parliament defines it, “a model of production and consumption that involves sharing, lending, reusing, repairing, reconditioning, and recycling existing materials and products for as long as possible.”
The Research Center will focus on establishing collaboration between the university and businesses in the territory by providing scientific support in the areas of logistics and supply chain management and organization, digitization of organizational processes, and business model sustainability. This is a project developed from the collaboration of two entities that have been investing in skill development for years in order to transition to a zero-carbon economy and create new digital and green policies.
Also among the new developments is a new master’s degree program in supply chain management.
A further collaboration in construction involves the University of Verona with a number of local businesses, including Consorzio Zai – Interporto Quadrante Europa, Calzedonia Group, and Lidl, to create a new master’s degree that will begin in October 2024. The course will train professionals in supply chain management.
Along with the organizations taking part, Smeg-Bonferraro, Teddy Group, Toyota Material Handling, Lidl, Avanzini Logistics, the Regional Innovative Network Rivelo in Logistics, Speed Hub Foundation, and Friends of LogiMaster are also taking part in the competition.
