The “Tutti a teatro” (Everyone to the Theatre) project will be launched in August in Verona with the aim of breaking down the economic and cognitive barriers and stereotypes that keep disadvantaged people away from cultural life. Eight evenings at the “Teatro Romano” (Roman Theatre) of the city, up to 150 tickets for users of local cooperatives and support associations, men and women, supported by the Municipality’s social services, according to transparent rules to ensure equal treatment.
Four titles have been chosen: Romeo and Juliet by the Balletto di Roma on 8 and 9 August for the dance, and Romeo and Juliet #generazionesacrificio on 1 and 2 September for the prose, Shakespeare and Me with Andrea Pennacchi on 6 and 7 September, and Euripides’ Medea on 12 and 13 September.
The project, made possible thanks to the contribution of the Fondazione Banca Popolare di Verona and Banco Bpm, is not limited to free tickets, but provides a real service of accompaniment and cultural mediation, making the shows accessible also from a cognitive point of view and increasing the audience’s enjoyment.
An accessible culture project made possible thanks to the agreement signed between the Estate Teatrale Veronese the Municipality of Verona, Fondazione Banca Popolare di Verona and Banco Bpm. The gates of the Roman Theatre will thus be thrown wide open to people who are frail and in financial difficulty but wish to take part in an evening of drama or dance in one of the city’s most prestigious cultural venues.
