According to Times Higher Education, Verona is ranked 69th among the world’s best young universities.
The Times Higher Education Young University Rankings, published by the London weekly Times Higher Education, recognize the best faculties in the world that are 50 years old or younger. Verona roses from 82 in 2022 to 69 this year among the 605 universities examined worldwide.
At the national level, Italy participated with 18 universities, and the Veronese one placed sixth. This year’s Italian podium included the Sant’Anna of Pisa, the Vita-Salute San Raffaele of Milan, and the Humanitas of Milan. Thus, the Univr (University of Verona) has surpassed those of Brescia and Insubria and ranks just behind the Bicocca.
The research specifically analyzed thirteen indicators to establish the ranking. These include the number of full-time students (18,621 at the Univr), the student-to-staff ratio (23.8 students per employee), and the percentage of international students (4%). Another data to consider is the gender ratio of students: 64% of them are female, while 36% are male.
This is also in line with the results of another Times Higher Education ranking (the Impact Raking), which takes into account 1,591 universities from 112 countries, regardless of when they were created. In this case, the ranking is based on the SDGs (sustainable development goals), with 600 universities that meet all the criteria to be classified; Verona is ranked 401, standing out in points five and ten, which refer to gender equality and the reduction of inequalities.
