The Palio del Chiaretto di Bardolino returns with its 18th edition to dye Lake Garda “pink”. From Friday 26th to Sunday 28th May, the streets of Bardolino will host eighteen tasting stands of Chiaretto Classico Doc and Spumante Doc. The program includes concerts, itinerant music, markets, and good food, as well as a tensile structure that will guarantee hospitality and comfort even in case of bad weather.
Three full days for the Palio, recognised as one of Italy’s main rosé wine and food festivals. The rich calendar of events will unfold from Punta Mirabello to Punta Cornicello and in the historic centre. Seventeen producers will be present, and a stand, in Piazza del Porto, will display the winning wines of the Wine Competition. Also returning this year is the iconic tasting kit to hang around one’s neck with pink glass holder and glass goblet sold at all stands at a cost of 4 euro. Subsequent tastings from 2.50 euro per glass.
New this year is the marquee set up at the Parco Carrara Bottagisio that can accommodate up to 300 people at the same time for lunches and dinners in the event of bad weather. The Palio is also an opportunity to enjoy local food and wine pairings while sitting in front of a wonderful lake view. During the three days of festivities, three menus will be offered, prepared by the association Amo Baldo Garda, the Professional Institute for Hotel and Catering Services ‘Luigi Carnacina‘ with its students, and De Gustibus. Among the dishes that will accompany the Chiaretto tastings will be tortellini from Valeggio sul Mincio and “Rosa del Garda”. A tortello stuffed with Monte Veronese cheese, Garda lemon powder, and DOP oil. Moreover, among the delicacies on the food menu, will be pasta with sardines or crostini with trout in sauce; pink gnocchi with Grana Padano DOP fondue and basil, pike in sauce with polenta and typical dessert, Sanvigilini.
Palio del Chiaretto has been a tourist attraction for many years, not only to taste one of the most famous Italian rosés in the world, but also to take part in the numerous accompanying events. Particularly noteworthy is the transversal musical proposal that accompanies Bardolino during the three days of the festival, which this year sees the return of the itinerant musical entertainment animated by the Storyville Street Band and the Pepper Jazz Street Band. The popular “Bardolino Porto in Musica” also returns with three events: Bisos Music Live, Elibibà and the 40 Songs and C2 Acoustic Duo, which will take place in the evenings. And to end the days on a high note, concerts will be held every evening in the Parco Carrara Bottagisio, starting on Friday with Jazz and Ballads in the Streets of New Orleans, Fusco Gang and Hollywood Show “On the road” with Al-B Band and Paso Dj.
