The highly anticipated 10th edition of La Città del Jazz, Verona’s renowned Afro-American music festival, kicked off on December 22, 2024, at Teatro Camploy with the Christmas concert Magic Moments, a tribute to the timeless songs of Burt Bacharach. The festival continues with five captivating events scheduled between January 24 and May 9, 2025.
This milestone edition is titled “Jazz Time! Voices, Instruments, Styles” and features an impressive lineup of artists and groups:
- Wood Quintet: A celebrated Verona-based group that takes audiences through jazz, ethnic music, classical compositions, and electric sounds.
- Nathalia Sales & Noticia do Brasil: The Brazilian singer, now residing in Verona, brings the vibrant, soulful, and refined sounds of her homeland to the stage.
- Los Alamitos with Sara Fortini: Led by the internationally acclaimed Veronese vocalist, this group blends jazz, bossa nova, and contemporary pop-soul.
- Andrea Pimazzoni & Atris Organ Trio: Saxophonist and composer Andrea Pimazzoni presents an innovative project that bridges jazz tradition with sound experimentation.
- Jazz Improvisation Students: Under the guidance of Marco Pasetto and Giordano Bruno Tedeschi, students from the Big Band’s masterclasses showcase their skills in a unique performance.
- Big Band Ritmo Sinfonica Città di Verona: The festival’s cornerstone ensemble will delight audiences with different engaging jazz standards.
The festival is organized by the Big Band Ritmo Sinfonica and the City of Verona, and it is artistically and technically directed by Marco Pasetto and Paolo Girardi.
