This year, Malcesine’s Christmas celebrations are designed with families in mind, featuring over 40 events to brighten the holiday season through January 6.
Explore the Iconic Castello Scaligero
The historic Castello Scaligero will be open to the public until Epiphany Day, January 6 (closed on December 25; see visitmalcesine.com for more information). From December 21 to January 6 (except December 25), the beautiful Castello della Befana (Epiphany Castle) welcomes children and their families with a variety of animations from 10:00 to 12:30 and 14:00 to 17:30. Children under the age of 13 can enter for free.
Kids will enjoy themed areas such as:
- Creative workshops will be held in the picturesque Labia Hall, where children can craft their own Befana hats and stockings.
- Flying School, a broomstick simulator, lets kids “fly” and earn a special diploma in the tower.
- Befana’s House is an immersive experience in the Casermetta Hall, complete with magical books, potion recipes, and juggling shows performed by professional actors.
- Befana’s Flying Companions. From December 14-21 and January 4 (2:30 PM-5:30 PM), an exhibit of nocturnal and diurnal birds of prey will fascinate young animal lovers.
Pony rides and live music in Piazza Statuto for a family-friendly Christmas
The square features an ice-skating rink, the popular Bruco Mela carousel, and a 4D cinema showcasing Christmas-themed multisensory projections. For young animal enthusiasts, pony rides are available on several festive dates, organized by Maneggio San Giorgio, with tickets costing €3.
Live music is an important element of the celebrations, with four Saturday performances set at 5 p.m. The lineup includes concerts by Elios Bros. on December 14, Badalona on December 21, Kriss Groove Band on December 28, and Da Fogo on January 4.
