With just one year to go until the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, Ski Club Verona, the oldest ski club in the City, founded in 1962, has officially presented its 2024-2025 Competitive Season. At the same time, the club has announced new prestigious partnerships with Confcommercio Verona and Banco Alimentare, further strengthening its support network.
These two organizations join a strong group of companies that have been backing the club’s activities. After a period of restructuring, Ski Club Verona is now ready to compete again, bringing its youth teams back into various provincial and regional championships. This renewed commitment ensures that young skiers from Verona can develop their competitive skills without having to transfer to clubs in other provinces.
Ski Club Verona: A Legacy of Excellence and Responsibility
“The birth of Ski Club Verona dates back to May 25, 1962, with its first president, Silvano Tapparini, and vice presidents, Giuseppe Ceni and Dante Zanoni. The club received official recognition from the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) just days later, on May 28, and on October 27 of the same year, the first headquarters was inaugurated in Piazza Cittadella” recalled Alfredo Salerno, the current president of Ski Club Verona.
“We are not here to boast about our heritage, but rather to highlight the responsibility we have in carrying this tradition forward. More importantly, we take great pride in seeing a new generation of Verona’s athletes embracing the sport with dedication and discipline. Our teams are composed of determined young skiers, and beyond their performances on the slopes, we strive to instill the true values of sports and the mountains: sacrifice, commitment, friendship, respect, and honesty. These principles will help shape them into better citizens”, Salerno added, addressing the club’s officials, coaches, and athletes during the event.
With its solid history and a strong vision for the future, Ski Club Verona is set to make a significant impact in the lead-up to the 2026 Winter Olympics, fostering talent and promoting a deep passion for skiing among young athletes.
