It will be a great anticyclone of Atlantic and subtropical matrix that will rule the weather until Christmas and will bring damp, cold and above all foggy weather to all areas of the Po Valley, including Verona. Maximum attention especially for drivers.

It won’t be so cold in Verona this winter: minimum temperatures around zero or slightly below (watch out for frost on the roads), maximums around five to six degrees but up to ten to eleven degrees in the event of clear skies. Very mild weather on the shores of Lake Garda and in the mountains, where in the middle of the day temperatures will reach 12/13 degrees around 1.000 metres above sea level.

The negative consequence of the winter anticyclones is the accumulation of dust and pollutants on the ground. The concentration of Pm10 has exceeded the limit threshold of 50 micrograms per cubic metre in the city; with increasing pressure over the next few days, it will rise to 80/90, i.e. the maximum pollution levels of autumn 2024. It is precisely the cold, foggy blanket that will ‘trap’ the dust without any possibility of upward expansion due to the absence of updrafts.

On Santo Stefano – Boxing Day (26 December) the weather in Verona city will return to stable, although once again foggy. The forecast models outline a stable situation for the Christmas week as well. Once again, the anticyclone will dominate the scene, with the usual foggy conditions on the plains but fine weather at high altitudes.
