An invisible bridge that connects distant yet nearby cultures and stories. This is the essence of the photography exhibition “Guarda te… chi è tra noi” “Look Who’s Among Us”, curated by the Fondazione San Zeno and hosted in the Protomoteca della Biblioteca Civica di VeronaProtomoteca of Verona’s Civic Library. The initiative, aligned with the International Migrants Day, celebrates diversity, identity, and the shared humanity of 22 individuals whose lives have crossed borders and cultures.

The exhibition, open until January 11, 2025, presents striking portraits captured by photographer Tiziano Zatachetto, also known as Zatac. His lens reveals the deep, emotional expressions of men and women living in Verona but often overlooked. Faces full of stories, reflections, and hopes emerge, inviting visitors to pause and look deeper.

The project highlights the power of a gaze. “Their eyes sought genuine connection” shares ph Zatachetto, “they weren’t evasive but open to others. It felt like I had known them forever.” Each portrait is paired with the voices of its subjects, who answer two questions: “What do I carry from the past?” and “How do I see myself today?”.

From Denisa, an Albanian who found her place in Italy, to Ola, a social worker from Poland teaching her son about his heritage, the exhibition showcases stories of resilience, joy, and transformation. “The eyes are like open windows” says Rita Ruffoli, Director of the Fondazione San Zeno “They reveal inner landscapes, stories safeguarded in silence and smiles”. Visitors are invited not only to observe but to listen: QR codes next to the photographs link to videos where the protagonists share their journeys.

This exhibition is an emotional call to rediscover the value of diversity and humanity, reminding us that through another’s gaze, we may catch a glimpse of ourselves.
