Romanian citizens living in Verona and its surrounding areas are heading to the polls this weekend to vote in the presidential elections. Four municipalities in the province—Verona, Villafranca, Cerea, and Valeggio—are hosting polling stations, which opened today, Friday, November 22, at noon and will continue until 9 PM. The polls will reopen on Saturday and Sunday, operating from 7 AM to 9 PM.

Verona: a hub for Romanian voters

Verona, which boasts one of the largest Romanian communities in Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia with approximately 30,000 residents, has emerged as a crucial voting hub. The province, alongside Padua, hosts the highest number of sections in the region, with five sections available at each polling station.

In Verona, voters can head to the Sala della Pace on Via Tevere and the former council chamber in Piazza Madonna di Campagna. Additional polling stations have been set up at the social center on Via Rinaldo in Villafranca, the civic hall in Aselogna (a hamlet of Cerea), and the fruit and vegetable market in San Graziano, Valeggio sul Mincio.

Upcoming voting dates

If a runoff is required, voters will return to the polls from December 6 to December 8 with the same 7 AM to 9 PM schedule. Furthermore, parliamentary elections are scheduled for November 30 and December 1, providing another opportunity for Romanian citizens to shape their government.
