On the podium stand Milan, Bolzano, Trento, Monza (near Milan) but also our city of Verona. This is revealed by the annual Quality of Life 2024 survey conducted by ItaliaOggi and Ital Communications, in collaboration with Rome’s Sapienza University. Services, income threshold, infrastructures, vitality of the productive fabric, these are the main quality elements that must distinguish a large urban centre.
Verona thus ranks seventh in the overall ranking, gaining nine positions compared to the previous year (it was 16th). In the category sub-classifications, the city of Verona is in fifth place for tourism (it even overtook Venice, which is in seventh place). Among the best results for Verona was also third place overall in ‘Business and Work’. Under the heading ‘Security’, on the other hand, the Verona province dropped from 67th to 73rd position.
The growth of the metropolises is confirmed this year: provinces and metropolitan cities, especially in the Centre-North, continue to show greater resilience to shocks than other areas of the country. As a result, the divide between the regions of the North and the South and Islands, where areas of social and personal hardship are growing, becomes sharper. The study highlights the Italian cities that offer the best well-being conditions to their inhabitants and is divided into nine dimensions of analysis: business and work, environment, crime and safety, social security, education and training, population, health system, tourism, income and wealth.
