As Christmas approaches, Verona prepares to shine with festive enthusiasm, welcoming visitors and locals to its seasonal festivities. Tomorrow, November 15th, the much-anticipated Christmas Markets will debut on Via Pallone (here is our article). Along with the markets, Verona has added several new attractions, including the reappearance of the renowned comet star in Piazza Bra, albeit without its tail, and a series of beautiful light shows suspended above the streets.
This year’s Christmas lights will include quotes from two great poets: Dante Alighieri and William Shakespeare. These words, chosen by Veronese residents via an online survey, will be displayed on the city’s principal streets and neighborhoods from December 1st to February, bringing a touch of timeless poetry to the city’s festive mood. Along with this literary touch, traditional Christmas lights will be turned on in Verona beginning December 1st, creating a welcoming glow across the city’s historical streets and squares.
The legendary comet star, a symbol of Verona’s Christmas spirit, will return to Piazza Bra without its tail, damaged during dismantling two years ago. Meanwhile, last year’s temporary star will not be forgotten; it will instead embark on a “tour” of Verona’s various neighborhoods, spreading festive cheer throughout the city.
