Hundreds of canoes, kayaks and dinghies will follow the Adige river, embracing the ancient city of Verona. After a four-year stop Adigemarathon is back. On Sunday 27, professional athletes, amateurs and enthusiasts will set off from the Chievo dam to follow the course of the water as far as San Giovanni Lupatoto (in the province of Verona).
The competitive race will start at 11 a.m. and finish at the Adige Park. Then the amateurs will start, followed by the tourists on the dinghy. The route will be 22 kilometres long, interspersed with a landing at the Enel dam in Santa Caterina at Pestrino. Twenty years after the first edition, the event that brings together competitiveness and amateurs, changes location and for the first time allows the view of the historical centre from the river.
400 participants have already registered. The competitive athletes number 70 and also come from across the border: Holland, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany and Great Britain. The amateurs who will take to the water all together on Sunday morning number 180, and 125 dinghies are ready for the adventure. Those who would like to join in – there are still a few days left – can do so online at www.adigemarathon.eu. Among the testimonials are Rossano Galtarossa, Olympic gold medallist, Beppe Faresin, Daniele Molmenti, Pierpaolo Ferrazzi.
