The Arche Scaligere (Scaliger Tombs) will be open to the public until September 22 as part of a special opening arranged by Legambiente Verona. This massive Gothic-style funeral complex, located close to the Church of Santa Maria Antica in Verona’s historic center, honors the distinguished members of the Scaliger family. The graves are surrounded by a characteristic wrought iron fence with a ladder design, which represents the Scaliger family, and sarcophagi are positioned on the ground or elevated platforms.
