Already, 900 participants have registered for La 10 di Bardolino, a 10-kilometer road race organized by ASD Atletica Insieme that will be valid as the Veneto Regional Championship this year. The race, which was presented yesterday morning, is a well-known event in Bardolino, and it will commemorate its 10-year anniversary on October 15.

The event will determine regional champions at the absolute level (seniors and juniors), as well as amateur and masters categories. This is the third time in 10 editions that this has occurred; the previous time was in 2021, when Riccardo Martellato of Assindustria Sport and Eleonora Lot of Atletica Ponzano stood on the top step of the podium. Still, Kenyan Ishmael Chelanga Kalale of Atletica Casone Noceto holds the record to beat. Ishmael has won the last two editions, and last year he set an outstanding time of 30’10” on the undulating course, which winds between Bardolino and Cisano while also affecting the immediate area.

“The race takes place on a mixed course, very technical, with the first seven kilometers unfolding inland, among vineyards and olive groves, while the last fraction is held on the lakefront, from Cisano to Villa Carrara,” explains Claudio Arduini of ASD Atletica Insieme, the race’s organizer. The participation of athletes from beyond Verona, as well as the significant proportion of female competitors, confirmed the interest that running in such a rare and valuable natural context as this riparian length of Lake Garda arouses.”

50% of the participants come from outside the province of Verona

The number of registrations has already reached 900, with 50% coming from outside the province of Verona: given that the appointment is still a few days away, and that the competitive race will be joined by a non-competitive trial, on the same route and in any case with time measurement, the number of participants in the previous edition can be expected to be greatly exceeded. The registration cost has been reduced to 22 euros for the competitive race and 20 euros for the recreational-motor event till October 12. They will cost 25 and 23 euros on the last two days, including the Saturday before the event (October 14).
