The next National Day for the Care of Creation, scheduled for Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September, will be celebrated in Verona, with a study conference, an ecological walk along the Adige River, and Mass in the Cathedral celebrated by Verona Vescovo (Bishop) Dominico Pompili.
The day has been organised by the Office for Ecumenism and Interreligious Dialogue together with the National Office for Social Problems and Work of the Italian Episcopal Conference and our diocese. The theme proposed by Pope Francis is entitled: “As the waters flow, so law and justice flow like an everlasting stream”.
The Conference will take place on Saturday 16th at 10 am in the Bishops’ Hall. After lunch, which will be served in the main seminary, there will be an ecological walk in the afternoon, starting from the seminary and ending at the Basilica of San Zeno. During the walk, there will be several stops for contemplation and reflection. And finally, the ecumenical prayer.
On Sunday 17th the Eucharistic celebration, presided over by the Bishop, will be broadcast live on Rai1 at 11 a.m.
“In Verona, we will walk along the banks of the river Adige, a symbolic gesture of communion with creation. It is also a sign of a synodal Church that does not give up walking with brothers and sisters of other Christian Churches or religious denominations to share the beauty of caring for the common home“.
