Not only Germans, but also French, consider Lake Garda as the most beautiful in the world. One of the most significant French channels, France 2, has dedicated an entire television service to praising our lake. The most appealing qualities are crystal clear water, stunning landscapes, tradition, and excellent food.
A true Lake Garda journey in a tv service of France 2’s column “Le 13 Heures Découverte” – “the twelve discoveries” – which informs about the most beautiful lakes in the world and ranks Garda top. Two and a half million spectators took part in a voyage that began in Sirmione, in its gorgeous castle, and ended at the beach Giamaica and the Catullo caves after walking the streets of the old town. A boat ride to see the Rocca Scaligera and the Caves with tourist guide Chiara Bertoldi, who has been doing this profession for over twenty years.
But it doesn’t stop there. A good part of the service was in fact dedicated to the Gardensi costumes, demonstrating, once again, that what distinguishes our territories is not only the extraordinary scenic beauty but also, and above all, the strong link with the traditions that resist the time.
France 2 also met the fisherman Marco Dominici to learn about the history and characteristics of the famous coregone, the typical fish of the lake, then cooked by chef Filippo Morandi who prepared a typical dish with olives, tomatoes and capers, as simple as delicious. A dish that “in a single bite tells all the flavor of Lake Garda”, said the cook.
Lake Garda, according to France 2, “has nothing to envy to the territories of southern Italy”. Always lovers of fresh water, the French have returned in recent years to fill the Gardensi territories; not only Sirmione, but also Vittoriale and Malcesine are gradually gaining appeal, as have boat cruises, which are one of the most attractive activities.
And besides the French and the usual Germans, who have made Lake Garda a second home, this year also the royal Rania of Jordan and Abdullah II have decided to celebrate a few days ago their anniversary in the resort Lefay and a lunch in the garden of Villa Feltrinelli.
