The countdown has begun for the second edition of the Chiaretto Run, a non-competitive walk-race that will bring hundreds of enthusiasts to Bardolino on June 10th, in the heart of the vineyards that produce one of the world’s most famous Italian rose wines. There are two routes: 5 km and 12 km, with departure at sunset and arrival at the Salesian Institute Tusini, Road of Sem 1 in Bardolino.

The program is open to everyone, including groups of friends, families with children, runners and walkers, lake, wildlife, and wine enthusiasts. The two proposed routes, in fact, cross one of the most famous Italian wine denominations (mentioned, among others, by Ernest Hemingway), where attention and care for the landscape and natural environment combine with quality and secular savoir-faire of the vineyard and cellar labor.

Nature, food, and wine are the Chiaretto Run 2023’s added values: not surprisingly, the start time is set at 18:00, allowing for a “third period” after the walk, ideal for meeting and getting to know the best of local specialties at dinner. In its largest form, the route will take you through one of the most fascinating itineraries of the Garda hinterland, from Val Sorda to the slopes of Monte Moscal. Both paths are moderately challenging.

The main partner is Cantine di Verona, the Scaliger centre born from the merger of Cantine Valpantena, Oleificio delle Colline Veronesi, Cantina Colli Morenici, and Cantina di Custoza. «Running through the rows, while enjoying a landscape of extraordinary beauty, is a wonderful experience – says Luigi Turco, President of Cantine di Verona -. The uniqueness of the Garda’s hills, the scenery of Chiaretto di Bardolino Run, is unquestionably a heritage to be preserved. Here wine has been produced for centuries, the vine has always distinguished the landscape and these types of events allow us to spread the knowledge of the territory and its peculiarities».

The Chiaretto Run is held under the patronage of the Municipality of Bardolino, which recently wanted to emphasize the centuries-old wine tradition giving the name “Chiaretto di Bardolino” to the territory; a territory that will be crossed by the race on Saturday, June 10th.

«Welcome are events that allow us to know the hinterland and corners of our wonderful territory that escape mass tourism,» said Lauro Sabaini, mayor of the Municipality of Bardolino; «the hills that surround us, with their vineyards, are the first business card for every tourist or visitor who arrives in Bardolino and deserve to be highlighted. In addition to nature and the environment, you can discover the true protagonists of this setting: the farms and wineries that protect and promote our Bardolino wine, in perfect harmony with all Bardolino’s economic tourism».

« The Chiaretto Run, explains Fabio Dei Micheli, President of the Consortium for the Protection of Chiaretto di Bardolino, is an excellent opportunity to discover the natural beauty of the Chiaretto di Bardolino region. Walking through the vineyards and among the beautiful hills overlooking Lake Garda is a one-of-a-kind experience that allows you to discover firsthand what a glass of Chiaretto contains: love for an incredible area that welcomes thousands of tourists every year, its history, and its traditions».

Charity in Chiaretto Run 2023
