Malcesine Baldo Trail (sponsored by Asics) returns for the second year in a row. Many new features for the race that runs throught the breathtaking views of Alto Garda. From 5 to 7 May, participants will run on the paths of the mountains bordering the Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige touching the municipalities of Malcesine (Verona), Brentonico and Avio (Trento).
Two regions, three municipalities and four routes organized for trail runners. Registration is still open for the Malcesine Baldo Trail that returns this year after the triumph of the first edition. A success confirmed by the names that immediately catch your eye in the list of participants. Among them Luca Carrara and Francesco Lorenzi, the winners of the first and second place in the 50km queen route, but also Georg Piazza, the South Tyrolean who will make his debut this year. Another great return is that of Sergio Bonaldi from Bergamo. A year after the historic double win where he succeeded both in the vertical of Friday and in the intermediate distance race on Saturday, Bonaldi will compete next week in the 24km. But this is only part of the roster of top runners who will compete on the first weekend of May.
After the great participation of the last edition, VRM TEAM Asd (Verona Marathon Team) has decided to keep intact the format that is characterized by the wide choice of routes in terms of distance and type of race. At the same time, however, improvements have been made. Starting from the happy hour that will be organized Saturday from 18 to 20. Participants can celebrate the conclusion of the queen race of the weekend, the ultra race, listening to live music and drinking the famous Monte Baldo beer. In addition, at the end of each route will be organized pasta parties and on Saturday the organizers will provide showers for participants.
In addition to fun and beautiful scenery, adrenaline will not be lacking. Four routes suitable for everyone: vertical, short, medium and ultra. Friday afternoon runners will start with the vertical, a path of 4.5 km in ascent that will last a maximum of two hours and will end with a spectacular view of the lake. Saturday morning will be the turn of the medium and ultra races, respectively 24 and 50 km. As for the medium, the five-hour route will start and end in Malcesine and it will pass between some scenic mountain trails reaching the maximum altitude of 1756 meters. The queen of races will be the ultra, 50km of racing with a maximum altitude of 2079 m. An adrenaline trail that will arrive to the Local Natural Park of Monte Baldo in the municipalities of Avio and Brentonico (Trento). And finally, on Sunday morning runners will compete in the short. 16km mainly on paths and dirt roads halfway up the coast with the final part in the lake.
