Easter is only two months away, but hotels, restaurants, travel agencies and campgrounds are still looking for seemingly unobtainable staff. The Camera di Commercio di Verona – Verona Chamber of Commerce – which coordinates tourism promotion in the province, is taking the field with an online job exchange through the http://orientamento.recruitingverona.it/ platform, which crosses supply and demand in the sector. The portal is aimed at all potential candidates interested in a temporary contract. The portal has been publicized in hopes of attracting more applications from outside the province and even from abroad. “We have brought forward the matching activity by a month compared to last year to respond in a more timely manner to requests from companies. Workers seem to be nowhere to be found,” says Paolo Artelio, president of the Destination Verona & Garda Foundation. The Unioncamere – Anpal survey, through the Excelsior information system, shows that a significant increase in demand for tourism workers is expected for the 2023 summer season, especially in accommodation and food services. 49% of businesses in Verona are struggling to find any. Also according to Excelsior data, between February and April, and then in anticipation of Easter, 6.690 positions will be in demand, mostly fixed-term. The portal is organized as a showcase where registered companies will be able to create their own presentation profile and enter, also with reference to protected categories, job positions sought or internships offered. The businesses that have expressed interest are located throughout the province of Verona and operate in various areas of the industry: from bars to restaurants, camping sites to hotels and mountain lodges. Everything is needed: from kitchen helpers to waiters, from maintenance workers in campsites to receptionists, from night porters to porters, from pastry chefs to maîtres and kitchen commis. Also on the list is the start-up Meeters, a community of more than 27,000 members, which organizes outings and trips for members to socialize and is looking for booking sales managers, while the Europlan Group of Bardolino is hoping to identify suitable figures for the role of guest relations specialist among the many sought.
